Sorry, Dallas but Philadelphia appears to be the “all-in” team, at least when it comes to paying wide receivers. While the Cowboys front office struggles to extend CeeDee Lamb, the Eagles just locked up their No. 1 pass-catcher.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter , A.J. Brown and the Eagles reached agreement on a three-year, $96M extension with $84M guaranteed and an annual salary of $32M, the highest of any wide receiver.
The deal comes 10 days after signing DeVonta Smith a three-year, $75M extension. That’s $171M allocated for two players. It’s quite a bit of money to spend at one position, but not as much as it could have been.
Another WR deal in Philadelphia: Eagles and Pro-Bowl WR A.J. Brown reached agreement on a 3-year, $96 million extension that includes $84 million guaranteed, per sources. The $32 million is the highest per-year average for any WR.

Players like Lamb, Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase and Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson are nearing the end of their rookie deals and looking for new contracts. Surely, they’ll be looking for more money than Brown. Lamb, for example, is scheduled to make $17.9M in 2024 but is looking to be paid as one of the league’s top receivers.
As a guest on teammate Micah Parsons The Edge podcast, Lamb didn’t mince words when it came to future earnings.
“I can’t give you no numbers right now, but I’ll tell you this, [I want to be] one of the top paid receivers for sure, if not the [highest-paid receiver],” Lamb said, via a transcript from Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com. “That’s always the goal.”
Thanks to Brown, that goal just got further away. With less than $4M in cap space available for 2024, signing Lamb to an extension was going to be difficult no matter what. If Brown is worth $96M, what is the league’s second-leading receiver worth?
Of course, Philadelphia may regret giving Brown so much money down the road, but Dallas probably regrets not giving Lamb a little more right now.
